I am calling this 4A because that is how the seller graded this set of Koa. All the woods I use are of the highest quality, the 4A refers to the pattern of the curl, not the quality of the wood. The curl and color of this uke with the abalone really jump out at you in person. I have strung this with a High G instead of my normal Low G. It just fits the 15" scale of this concert uke a little better in my opinion.
This uke has the typical warm koa sound with a little extra punch of volume even though it is a concert.
The binding and the stripe down the center of the back are East Indian rosewood.
The accents are Brown Mallee Burl. Almost all burl had the little eye hole markings, but this piece has many more than normal.
The neck is Honduran Mahogany with a carbon fiber truss rod (even though a concert doesn't really need the reinforcement) The fingerboard and bridge are a dark purplish East Indian rosewood. Nut and saddle are natural water buffalo bone.
As always, there is a side soundport. The sides match the top and back very nicely.
