Nick's Bearclaw Spruce and Black Limba
Long Neck Concert

This Ukulele went to a dear friend in the Silicon Valley area of California.

The soundboard on this ukulele is Bearclaw Sika spruce. Bearclaw is a rare genetic trait that causes the wood to appear to have large irregular "claw marks" running through it. It doesn't affect the strength of the wood at all.

The back and sides of this uke are Black Limba, an African species related to almonds. The tricolor pattern is very striking.

The neck is white limba, also known as Korian. This is from the same boards as the Black limba.

Binding is East Indian rosewood. Fingerboard and bridge are Ebony.

The accent woods are a curly chocolate mango from some scrap wood I picked up from Hank Johnson of Kimo Ukuleles.

The headstock has a little bit of an orange tint in the middle. Black Limba sometimes has beetle infestations that will give the wood orange streaks. This one isn't as bright as some, but I find it interesting.
