This solid Koa tenor has a very dark koa body. It gave me the feeling of looking at stripes of chocolate, hence the name "Coco Crazy".
A customer contacted me at just the right time for this ukulele. She was looking for a koa tenor without much "bling". I had just put the thin abalone rosette on this soundboard and she agreed that a thin abalone rosette would be fine. From there she pretty much let me do what I wanted. The perfect customer. :)
The back is so much like the front, it was hard to keep track of which was which until I installed the rosette.
I did add an East Indian rosewood back strip which matches the binding.

The accents are a Coolish Burl that goes really well the dark koa.
The neck is Honduran Mahogany with a carbon fiber truss rod.
The fingerboard and bridge are East Indian rosewood. Nut and saddle are natural water buffalo bone.

As always, there is a side soundport. The sides match the top and back very nicely. I really like the dark band that goes around the top.
The sound of this uke is very mellow and warm, yet still projects very well.

The thin rosette is Paua Abalone with thin black and white purfling around the rosette and the top.
