I am calling this tenor uke "The Mullet" because its business in the front and party in the back.

This red cedar top is very light in color, lighter than some spruce I have seen, but its sound is all cedar. The tap tone on the raw wood literally rang like a bell. This uke has big volume, wonderful resonance and great articulation. the tone is right in-between the warmth of Koa and the brightness of spruce. Make sure you check out the sound sample at the bottom of the page.

The rosette is a mosaic of hardwoods that match the colors of the Koa back and sides.

Here is that crazy Koa back. I almost looks a burl. I am told Koa doesn't form burls, but it sure is crazy looking.

The binding is East Indian rosewood.

The accents on the back of the headstock, heal and end graft are Coolibah Burl.

The neck is Honduran Mahogany. The fingerboard and bridge are a dark brown Asian Ebony. Nut and saddle are natural bone. As always a side sound port for the player.

I was lucky enough to have enough of this koa to make the headstock match the body. This is really a special piece of wood.

Come check this one out at Hale Ukulele in San Diego, CA. They do ship.

Even though this Uke is being sold at Hale Ukulele in San Diego, Chad of Island Bazaar in Huntington Beach, CA was nice enough to do a sound sample of his own composition for me.

Enjoy.
