This ukulele has a Denim Sitka spruce top and curly Oregon Myrtle back and sides. The spruce is from a log used to float a house boat on a remote Alaskan Lake for several decades. The grayish tan color is a result of minerals from the water and  iron nails and straps used to fasten the logs seeping into the wood over time. The result is a top that has the character of spruce with the added ability to be pushed hard without losing its tone.

I love the curl of this myrtle. There is actually a tan stripe and a grey stripe that makes the wood look a little like snakeskin. Thanks to Vince at Pacific Coast Woods

The accents are a dark Koa.

The neck is slightly curly Big Leaf Maple with a carbon fiber reinforcement rod.

The rosette is a mosaic of various hardwood including purple and yellow heart pieces.

The binding, fretboard and bridge are East Indian Rosewood.

This is a better picture showing the unique coloring of the soundboard. Its sort of a tannish grey with a light orange stripe down the middle.

I saw someone do this with some curly redwood and I didn't have enough scrap myrtle to make a complete book matched headstock, so I made a double book matched headstock to form a sunburst pattern. I think it came out pretty good.

I love the medullary rays on the spruce. It gives the top a quilted feel.
