Abe's Red and Rosewood Custom Tenor

Abe already has a spruce topped tenor and was looking for something warmer. He had heard a redwood/Brazilian Rosewood uke and liked it a lot. Since Brazilian Rosewood is hard to find these days and super expensive, we went with Honduran Rosewood as a substitute.
The Honduran Rosewood we chose has a very interesting pattern, not really anything I had seen before. Like most rosewoods, it is very dense and very shiny once its finished.

All the accents including the rosette and binding are pomelle sapele which has a very interesting, almost turtle shell pattern to it.

Again, the rosette and binding are pomelle sapele.
The fretboard and bridge are Amazon Rosewood which matches the red color scheme.

You can see the dark streaks in the bridge here. there is also a cool pattern in the fretboard.
I think we were able to get the warm sound that Abe was looking for. I also equipped it with some slightly thicker E and A strings that helped with the warmer sound he wanted.

We also threw in a curly walnut neck, which I wasn’t sure of at first, but once the finishes were applied everything looked great together.
