While a lot of the mango wood use for ukuleles comes from Hawaii or India (India is where mango originated), the spalted mango on this concert sized ukulele came from Mexico. The spalt on the mango is pretty intense and is about the maximum you would want to use.
The sound on this uke is very sweet and warm. (check out the sound sample at the bottom of the page) Not all concert ukes can handle a low G, but this one is sounding great with a Pepe Romero low G string.
The fretboard and bridge are Gaboon Ebony. The black binding is "Royal Blackwood" which is purple heartwood that has been treated to make it black all the way through. It gives the same glossy black as ebony, is more predictable when bending.
The accents are Black Palm. Black Palm is very hard and dulls saw blades very quickly, but it sands and polishes very well and the colors really compliment browns and blacks in the spalted mango.
The neck is White Limba (Korina) with a carbon fiber truss rod (even though a concert doesn't really need the reinforcement). Nut and saddle are natural water buffalo bone.
As always, there is a side soundport. The sides match the top and back very nicely. They don't have as much spalting, but it made the bending process easier.
